Welcome to the Association for The Defense of Victims of Nosocomial Infections

Did you know that, here in Québec or Canada, nosocomial infections caused by  bacterias such as C. difficile or MRSA and others kill more people each year than car accidents? Every year, in Québec only, 90 000 people are afflicted by these infections and out of this number 4000 will die. It is reasonable to say that 50% of these infections could be avoided by proper prevention and control measures such as strict hand hygiene and hospitals cleanliness.

By joining our association, you will contribute to our mission which aims at improving the quality of health cares delivered by all health centers and the protection of patients.

Hospitals are high risk milieu for bacterial contamination. Different types of bacteria, viruses and other germs are prevalent everywhere on flat surfaces such as night tables, telephones, TV remote controls, bed rails, staff hands and clothing etc.
Every year, in Québec only, 4000 patients die of infections contracted in the hospitals where they entered for treatment or operations.
Strict hygiene measures may reduce the infection rate by at least 50%. Hospital acquired infections are AVOIDABLE.

As a patient, you have an important role to play in your own protection by ensuring that the proper basic hygiene measures are being respected. It is your life which is at stake!.
