The HHC (Health and Hospital Corporation) has announced encouraging results in infection rates after a 3 years intensive and focused battle to reduce the most common and fatal infections: 90% reduction for ventilator-associated pneumonia and 65% for central blood stream infections among adult patients in intensive care units.
HHC attributes the dramatic reduction in infection rates to the adoption of proven, lifesaving interventions, including a series of independent steps, called bundles, that when done together typically result in significantly better outcomes.
