ALCOHOL BASED SOLUTIONS PROVE EFFICIENT AGAINST GASTROENTERITIS

E-mail Print
The systematic use of alcohol based gels and foams during epidemics or outbreaks have significantly reduced the incidence of gastroenteritis among the general population and particularly among elementary school children.

The rotavirus that causes gastroenteritis lives for up to 15 days on inert surfaces contaminated by infected stool. Rhinovirus, which causes the common cold, bronchitis, and asthmatic fits, can be detected in the secretions of a patient's respiratory system for up to six weeks after the first symptoms appear. Direct or indirect transmission of the virus is possible for up to twelve hours.
