“Our objective is to reduce hospital related infections by 50%” is the slogan summing up the call for action by medical specialists at the National Infectious Diseases Day, Ottawa.
During the Canadian Federal election campaign, September 2008, medical specialists, microbiologists, and other health care professionals sent an alarm call to the candidates. “Its high time that Canada establish a national strategy to reduce the incidence of MRSA and C. difficile by 50%,” states Dr. Rapahel Saginur, president of the coalition. “The personal cost inflicted on patients and their families is far too high.”
The letter, which was sent to the leaders of all federal political parties, is summed up by the slogan “Reducing hospital acquired infections by 50% is a battle that we can win.” Further information is available at the following web site: www.nidd.ca.
