According to a new study, sepsis (blood infection) and pneumonia, two common conditions caused by hospital-aquired infections like MRSA, killed 48,000 Americans in 2006, and cost the nation over 8 billion dollars to treat. Hospital-acquired infections impose a heavy human and financial burden on patients and hospital as well. A recent McGill University study tend to demonstrate that individual rooms might reduce by half the incidence of these infections.
