ABOUT ADVIN

ADVIN is a non profitable organisation run by volunteers and financed by members'fees, donation and public funding from the Ministry of Health Programs for Community Associations. Founded in 2004 by a small group composed of victims, their parents or friends, the association aims at raising awareness amongst the population as well as the health care workers on the urgency to reduce the rate of hospital acquired infections - also defined as health care associated infections - which cause too many unecessary victim. These infections are largely avoidable and thus should be avoided. All the necessarymeasures to avoid them are well known but are not strictly applied by the health staff.

ADVIN intends to work in partnership with all persons implied: patients, their families and staff from all health care centers. It isonly through respect and collaboration of all actors that  nosocomial infection may be controlled and prevented.

 

OUR MISSION

ADVIN is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to raise awareness and inform the public on the dangers of hospital-acquired infections. ADVIN intends to collaborate with all health, political and professional authorities in order to develop a program of prevention and control of hospital-acquired infections upholding the level of international standards.

ADVIN recommends the promotion of preventive measures and campaigns to prevent and reduce the consequences of these infections: prolonged diseases, invalidity and death.

ADVIN supports victims of these infections and all other patients, by informing them of their rights, and desires the elaboration and realisation of a compensation plan for the victims.

1- The objective of ADVIN is to inform and sensitise the public at large, health professionals and political authorities on the humane, social and economical consequences of hospital-acquired infections and the urgency to implement preventive measures in order to reduce their rate.

2- ADVIN recommends the creation of a program of prevention and control of hospital-acquired infections upholding international standards.

3- ADVIN intends to collaborate with all partners in the Quebec health-care system to establish a system of control and prevention . ADVIN supports all measure allowing the health-care centers to measure their rate of hospital-acquired infection in relation to the other centers, to constantly monitor and reduce their rate of infection and to allow this information to be made public.

4- ADVIN estimates that it is necessary to inform the public and the patients on preventive measures, their rights and all support resources.
ADVIN is ready to collaborate with the government to study the possibility of a no-fault compensation plan for major consequences caused by these infections
